Graduate Enclosure Consultant – Diagnostics
Join Walter Moore as a Graduate Enclosure Consultant – Diagnostics. Responsibilities include investigating and determining the service life of building enclosure assemblies, assessing enclosure systems, designing repairs, reviewing air infiltration, rain‑water control, heat transfer, vapor transmission, and conducting building‑performance analysis to evaluate day lighting, solar heat gain, thermal energy transfer, and integration with mechanical, lighting, and plumbing systems. A strong background in CADD, building‑performance modeling software, and excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
Knowledge of software such as ECOTECT, VASARI, ENERGY PLUS, EQUEST, DESIGN BUILDER, DIVA, IES‑VE, THERM, and WUFI is preferred.
- Investigate and determine the service life of building enclosure assemblies.
- Assess enclosure systems and design repairs for existing assemblies.
- Perform review to assess air infiltration, rain‑water control, heat transfer, and vapor transmission.
- Conduct building‑performance analysis, evaluating day lighting, solar heat gain, thermal energy transfer, and integration with building mechanical, lighting, and plumbing systems.
- Assist Project Manager with project tasks.
- Review and organize project‑related documents.
- Research building codes and industry standards.
- Write assessment reports.
- Perform field investigations, including non‑destructive testing (travel required).
- Model performance of enclosure assemblies using appropriate software.
- Analyze proposed repair/design options.
- Design and draft repair drawings and details.
- Prepare construction documents such as repair drawings and specifications.
- Observe construction and installation of repairs/designs in the field, including quality assurance testing.
- Prepare site visit reports and meeting minutes.
- Interact with project clients, sub‑consultants, and repair contractors.
- M.S. in Architectural Engineering or Architecture (Building Science, Enclosures, or Historic Preservation).
- Engineer in Training (EIT) or Architectural Intern track.
- Interest in building enclosure design, repair, retrofit and integrated design and delivery of high‑performance buildings.
- Experience with building‑performance modeling software (ECOTECT, VASARI, ENERGY PLUS, EQUEST, DESIGN BUILDER, DIVA, IES‑VE, THERM, WUFI) preferred.
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Computer‑Aided Drafting/Design:
AutoCAD, Revit, Rhino, Grasshopper. - Familiarity with exterior wall, roofing, and building structural systems.
- Experience working on suspended scaffolding and vertical heights.
