Position: DART 2500 Adjunct Instructor (DAVE SCHOOL)

DAVE School is seeking a qualified Digital Arts and Technology Adjunct Instructor (On-Campus).

The Instructor’s duties include teaching, directing, and coordinating academic or academic-related activities. The Faculty member provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to gain employment in their chosen field of study by utilizing teaching skills, experience, and abilities to create a positive, nurturing, and effective classroom environment that actively engages and supports students in their program of study, ultimately leading to their retention and successful graduation.

The instructor is assigned to a specific program based on their professional and educational qualifications and teaches a full-time load each term or module.

DART 2500 - Proportions and Anatomy 3.0 Semester Credits

Days and Hours

Tuesdays & Wednesdays from 6:30 PM - 9:30 PM plus Open Lab

Course Description

In this course, students will evaluate the human figure and its proportional relationships through the lens of mathematical principles. They will develop the necessary skills to accurately depict the human form in drawings, paintings, or sculptures. Furthermore, students will correlate mathematical aspects of proportions and anatomy with the creation of more realistic and visually compelling artworks.

Minimum Requirements
  • Master’s degree in one of the following or a closely related field:
  • Fine Arts (MFA or MA) with emphasis in figure drawing, illustration, sculpture, or visual arts
  • Medical Illustration or Biomedical Visualization
  • Studio Art, Digital Art, or Art Education Anatomy for Artists
  • OR a Master’s degree in a related discipline (e.g., Anatomy, Kinesiology, Biomedical Science) with at least 18 graduate semester credits in art or visual representation
  • Official academic transcripts of all degrees are required. All degrees must be from institutions accredited by regional or national accrediting bodies approved by the U.S. Department of Education. Foreign transcripts may be acceptable in some cases and require a translation and evaluation of equivalency to U.S. degrees by a recognized agency.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 2–3 years of teaching or professional experience in:
    • Figure drawing or figurative sculpture
    • Character design, concept art, or visual development
    • Medical or anatomical illustration
  • Professional portfolio demonstrating strong knowledge of human anatomy and proportion
  • Experience with digital art tools (e.g., Photoshop, Procreate, ZBrush, Blender, or similar)
  • Experience teaching in higher education or in online/hybrid environments
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong understanding of skeletal and muscular structure and classical proportional systems
  • Ability to integrate artistic practice with analytical and scientific concepts
  • Effective communication and student engagement skills
  • Proficiency in instructional technology and learning management systems
Responsibilities
  • Develops and delivers lesson plans and instructional materials and promotes a teaching-learning environment that encourages students’ academic progress.
  • Conducts lectures, discussions, and practical demonstrations to teach students
  • Start and end class at the assigned times, including break times
  • Keep current with industry trends and developments to ensure that course content remains relevant. Maintains knowledge of the subject matter in the field(s) of appointment and creates learning experiences to make the subject matter meaningful and relevant to the students
  • Provides feedback and guidance to students and helps them improve their skills and knowledge in and out of the class during open lab or office hours
  • Be prepared for class every day. Have the syllabus, lesson plans, classroom or lab, and related materials ready
  • Maintains the content of the courses updated and at a top level to achieve the highest standards of academic excellence possible.
