Overview

OUC - The Reliable One, is presently seeking a Technical Trainer (Water) to join our technical training department. We are looking for a knowledgeable, safety-focused professional to plan, develop and deliver specialized training programs that promote technical excellence, regulatory compliance and operational safety. The ideal candidate will be a subject-matter expert and an effective communicator who is passionate about employee development and fostering a culture of safety, innovation and continuous learning.

Salary Range:
Starting at $38.22 per hour (Estimated $79,497.60 annually) with a structured step progression system and performance-based pay increases.

Responsibilities
  • Design and deliver classroom and hands-on technical training; develop curriculum, instructional standards, and training documentation.
  • Support onboarding, refresher training, and ongoing workforce development; collaborate with technical training leadership to align programs with industry standards and organizational goals.
  • Provide training that ensures technicians are prepared to perform their duties safely; create a positive learning atmosphere and deliver instructor-led product training related to water delivery and maintenance.
  • Conduct needs analyses with leadership to determine training needs and evaluate program effectiveness; perform post-training field reviews and observations.
  • Develop on-the-job training plans and continuing education to enable skill practice, assessment, and progression.
  • Maintain training records and participate in development and deployment of Web Based and Simulation Training programs; contribute to eLearning content for students.
  • Identify and deploy leading-edge training technologies; oversee training logistics, instructor resources, and facility maintenance.
  • Coordinate training-related vendor contracts and relationships; support apprenticeship progression through competency-based frameworks and assessment strategies.
Technical Requirements
  • Working knowledge of engineering drawings, construction standards manuals, materials standards manuals, and safe work practices.
  • Familiarity with safety manuals, guidelines, and requirements; software applications (e.g., Learning Management System such as Cornerstone); water-related equipment and tools.
  • Experience with adult learning principles, training records, modules, and materials; strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to design cost-effective training programs from concept through implementation and assess program effectiveness; maintain rapport with students and provide coaching.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and standard office equipment.
Education, Certification & Years of Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED (required).
  • Associate’s degree in business, Instructional Design, Education, Organizational Development, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, or related field (preferred).
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of progressive water distribution, operations, or maintenance or hands-on water-related technical field experience (required); includes at least two (2) years training adult learners in utilities, heavy machinery, or industrial environments and curriculum development (preferred).
  • OSHA safety guidelines, training or exposure (e.g., OSHA 30) or must obtain OSHA training certification within 1 year of hire.
  • FDEP Level Three Distribution System Operator license (preferred).
  • Current and valid State of Florida license;
    Class “A” Commercial Driver’s License or ability to obtain within 6 months to 1 year of hire (required).
