Associate Professors, Biology

Faculty Responsibilities
  • Full-time instructional faculty required to work a minimum of 40 hours per week, including:
    • Teaching
    • Course Preparation
    • Student Engagement
    • Professional Development
    • Institutional Service
Instructional Workload
  • Fall: 15 contact hours
  • Spring: 15 contact hours
  • Summer: 6 contact hours
Position Requirements
  • Master's degree or higher in biology, botany, zoology, or related subfield, or 18 graduate semester hours in those fields plus a master's.
  • Face‑to‑face instruction primary, with occasional mixed‑mode and online formats.
    NOTE: Mixed‑mode is a hybrid modality that includes weekly asynchronous and face‑to‑face instruction.
  • Fluency in establishing Florida residency if selected.
Salary Range

Masters: $67,437 – $83,387 per year
Master’s +30: $72,267 – $88,217 per year
Doctorate: $77,097 – $93,047 per year

Essential Job Functions (Summary)
  • Facilitate student learning by delivering course material and employing various teaching methods and technologies.
  • Design and adapt curriculum, instructional methods, and assessments.
  • Plan instruction across modalities and integrate learning management systems and emerging technologies.
  • Develop assignments, exams, and projects aligned with objectives and provide timely feedback.
  • Engage in proactive communication with students for individualized support.
  • Support student success by connecting to resources and guiding academic and professional development.
  • Engage in institutional initiatives, attend and contribute to meetings, and ensure compliance with policies and accreditation standards.
  • Participate in assessment activities, learning outcomes evaluation, and accreditation processes, submitting required documentation.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and maintain qualifications, participating in courses and conferences.
  • Actively participate in committees and shared governance to contribute expertise and advance institutional policies.
  • Produce and curate course templates, instructional materials, and departmental resources to support faculty instruction.
  • Engage with community partners and strengthen connections between the college and the broader community.
  • Maintain record of faculty teaching and scholarly activities.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications
    • Required minimum education:

      Master’s degree in a biological science subfield.
    • Preferred experience:

      Teaching at the community college level and related professional licensure or certifications.
    • Knowledge, skills, and abilities required include:
      • Facilitating learning across modalities.
      • Apply assessment principles to align instruction with student outcomes.
      • Knowledge of instructional design, curriculum development, and content alignment.
      • Use of educational technology and learning management systems.
      • Develop accessible course content and learning materials.
      • Provide proactive academic support and timely communication.
      • Identify student needs and connect to resources.
      • Knowledge of institutional policies, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements.
      • Commit to ongoing professional development and reflective teaching practices.
      • Contribute to institutional service and governance, including committees and shared governance initiatives.
    Working Conditions

    Classroom setting with flexible schedule, including occasional evenings or weekends. Local travel required, reliable transportation and liability insurance may be required.
