The University of Central Florida (UCF) has established several interdisciplinary faculty research clusters to strengthen its academic offerings and research mission. Two tenure‑earning assistant professor, tenured associate professor, or tenured professor positions are available with the Resilient, Intelligent, and Sustainable Energy Systems (RISES) Center. The anticipated start date is August 8, 2026.
Positions- Position 1 – Sustainable Energy Systems:
Non‑Combustion (Host Department: Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering). The candidate will conduct research in low‑carbon electric power generation and storage technologies, including advanced nuclear systems, hydrogen production, thermal energy storage, electrochemical systems, and high‑efficiency heat exchangers. - Position 2 – Machine Learning and AI for Energy Systems (Host Departments: Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering). The candidate will apply modern machine learning techniques to energy system problems such as market forecasting, distributed infrastructure optimization, resilience research, and data‑driven modeling.
• Lead an independent, externally funded research program within RISES and host department.
• Collaborate across interdisciplinary teams and national laboratories.
• Contribute to teaching and mentorship of graduate and undergraduate students.
• Publish high‑quality, peer‑reviewed research and present at scientific conferences.
• Engage with industry partners and large‑scale research initiatives.
- A Ph.D. or foreign equivalent in a relevant energy systems field.
- Demonstrated record of high‑impact research, strong scholarship, and a funding record.
- Record of teaching, research, and service commensurate with tenure‑track rank.
- Excellent publication record and experience leading interdisciplinary collaborations.
- Experience in a national laboratory or industry.
- History of working with multidisciplinary teams.
- Prior work experience with energy storage systems.

Expected salary is negotiable. Work schedule varies. Appointment type:
