Overview
The University of Central Florida (UCF) invites applicants for a 9‑month, full‑time assistant professor (tenure track) or associate professor (tenured) faculty position in the Center for Advanced Turbo machinery and Energy Research (CATER). The position focuses on research in mechanical or aerospace engineering related to turbo machinery and energy systems.
ResponsibilitiesThe ideal candidates will work at the intersection of rotor dynamics, vibration, bearings of high‑speed rotors, and related areas. They are expected to produce high‑quality publications, build a funded and sustainable research program, and strengthen collaboration and partnership paradigms to launch and scale research‑based ventures that advance sustainable energy systems. The role requires teamwork, multidisciplinary engagement, and a vision for integrating campus research efforts into broader innovation.
Minimum Qualifications- An earned doctoral degree (or equivalent) in mechanical or aerospace engineering by the time of appointment.
- Proven record of high‑impact research demonstrated by a strong scholarly record.
- For tenured associate professor appointments, a demonstrated record of research, teaching, and service commensurate with that rank.
- Track record of securing externally funded research grants in relevant disciplinary areas.
- Extensive experience as a full‑time researcher in national laboratories, industry, or large interdisciplinary research centers, demonstrating applied research expertise and collaborative engagement.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams, including leadership roles in cross‑functional research initiatives.
- Significant post‑doctoral research experience contributing meaningfully to the field.

- Official transcripts (and, as applicable, U.S. degree equivalency evaluations) documenting the conferral of qualifying academic credentials.
