An ESE (Exceptional Student Education) Specialist is responsible for providing specialized support and services to students with disabilities, ensuring they receive an inclusive and equitable education. The ESE Specialist collaborates with teachers, administrators, and parents to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs), adapt curriculum materials, and provide accommodations that meet each student’s unique needs. They work closely with students to promote academic, social, and emotional development, helping them overcome challenges and achieve their full potential in a supportive learning environment.

    Requirements
    • Education:

      Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field is required;
      Master’s degree preferred.
    • Certification:
      Valid Florida teaching certification in Exceptional Student Education (ESE).
    • Experience:

      Minimum of 2 years of experience working with students with disabilities in a school setting. Experience with developing and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) is preferred.
    • Knowledge:
      Strong understanding of federal and state regulations regarding special education (IDEA, Section 504, etc.). Familiarity with different disabilities, learning accommodations, and modifications.
    • Skills:

      Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Ability to assess student needs, track progress, and develop appropriate instructional strategies. Strong organizational and time‑management abilities. Proficiency in technology and software used for special education documentation and reporting.
    • Personal Attributes:
      Patience, empathy, and dedication to supporting students with diverse learning needs. Problem‑solving mindset with attention to detail in managing student plans and legal requirements.
