The University of Texas at Austin's Dell Medical School seeks a board-certified or board-eligible Critical Care Physician to join the Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery. The successful candidate will help shape a high-performing, multidisciplinary team delivering post-operative care to adult patients undergoing advanced cardiovascular and thoracic procedures. This is a state-of-the-art CVSICU position with opportunities for collaboration with faculty and academic pursuits in a mission-driven environment.
Responsibilities- Deliver expert care to critically ill cardiovascular and thoracic surgical patients in the CVSICU.
- Collaborate closely with surgical and critical care teams in a multidisciplinary, team-based model.
- Participate in bedside teaching, simulation, and didactics for medical students, residents, and advanced practice providers.
- Engage in research and scholarly activity (clinical, translational, health services, or basic science).
- Contribute to departmental governance, academic programming, and quality improvement initiatives.
- MD or DO from an accredited institution.
- Board certified or eligible in critical care medicine (anesthesiology, internal medicine, or surgery-based pathway).
- Fellowship training completion in critical care medicine.
- Eligible for unrestricted Texas medical license prior to start date.
- Demonstrated experience managing complex cardiovascular ICU patients.
- Strong procedural skills and clinical judgment.
- Outstanding communication, collaboration, and leadership abilities.
- Commitment to academic excellence and clinical innovation.
- Able to foster a culture of teamwork, professionalism, and empathy in the ICU.
- Eligible for academic appointment as Assistant or Associate Professor.
