Job Description - PHYSICIAN/ATTENDING - PEDIATRIC EMERGENCY MEDICINE (BAPTIST - HOMESTEAD, FL) (28305)
Job Summary
The position involves clinical diagnosis, treatment, and management of pediatric patients in a multidisciplinary environment including physicians, nurses, advanced practice providers, clinical scientists, and social workers. It offers exposure to both general and high-acuity pediatric cases, along with opportunities for teaching, supervision of medical residents, and participation in research and publishing.
Job Specific Duties
- Apply knowledge of growth and development in patient interactions and treatment.
- Engage in ongoing self-education through journals, CME credits, conferences, etc.
- Develop and deliver monthly in services for staff and resident development.
- Follow up on tests, lab studies, and patient communications.
- Provide clinical services including history and physical examinations, data interpretation, treatment planning, routine orders, patient teaching, follow-up, screenings, medication administration, and diagnostic procedures.
- Suggest improvements to department operations to the Department Director or attending staff.
- Participate in Performance Improvement, research, and publishing activities.
- Teach and serve as a role model to medical students and residents.
- Participate in the call schedule as assigned.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) from an accredited medical school.
- Current state medical license in good standing.
- Maintain active and good standing status in American Heart Association BLS throughout employment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Exceptional clinical, research, and teaching skills with a commitment to academic pediatrics.
- Ability to relate cooperatively and constructively with patients, families, and colleagues.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Calm and effective under stressful conditions.
- Problem-solving skills for developing care plans and evaluating responses.
