Position Summary:
The Field Site Foreman plays a critical role in the successful execution of electrical projects. Reporting directly to the Superintendent, the Foreman is responsible for managing specific areas, phases, or systems within a project. The Foreman ensures all tasks assigned are completed in compliance with construction codes, safety standards, and project specifications. On larger projects, the Foreman may oversee designated areas (e.g., first floor, second floor), phases (e.g., underground, overhead), or systems (e.g., low voltage, power distribution).
For smaller projects, the Foreman is expected to lead and execute all activities independently.
This hands-on role requires active involvement in task coordination, team leadership, and ensuring timely completion of assigned activities while maintaining safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership:
- Supervise Leads, electricians, and helpers within assigned areas, phases, or systems.
- Conduct daily huddle meetings with the Superintendent to align on project goals, updates, and priorities.
- Delegate tasks to optimize resource allocation and ensure timely work completion.
- Foster a positive work environment by motivating and supporting team members to meet objectives.
- Plan and execute daily tasks aligned with the project schedule and milestones.
- Ensure work adheres to project specifications, construction codes, and safety standards.
- Monitor progress and quality of work in assigned areas or systems.
- Coordinate with other Foremen and the Superintendent to resolve issues and ensure smooth project flow.
- Attend daily huddle meetings:
Review daily and weekly goals, provide progress updates and verify tracker status, discuss Notices to Proceed (NTP) and new work additions, and reinforce safety reminders and review safety procedures. - Collaborate with the Superintendent and other Foremen to ensure task alignment and effective coordination.
- Assist the Superintendent in maintaining and updating key project forms:
Labor Productivity & Tracking Sheets (daily), Three-Week Look Ahead (Weekly), Progress Drawings (daily), Project Trackers (daily), and Material Releases and Requests (As Needed).
- Maintain and update project forms and trackers, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Report progress, challenges, and resource needs to the Superintendent in a timely manner.
- Enforce on-site safety protocols, ensuring compliance with OSHA standards and company policies.
- Conduct daily safety checks to address potential hazards immediately.
- Promote a safety-conscious culture among the team, ensuring compliance at all levels.
- Collaborate with the Superintendent, other Foremen, and team members to coordinate tasks and resolve any issues.
- Communicate effectively with the team, providing instructions, feedback, and updates as required.
- Act as the primary point of contact for the team in assigned areas.
- Labor Productivity:
Timeliness and accuracy of daily labor tracking updates;
Alignment of labor hours with project schedules and budgets. - Task Completion:
Achievement of daily and weekly milestones within assigned areas or systems;
Quality of work performed, meeting project specifications. - Safety Compliance:
Adherence to safety protocols and standards;
Number of safety incidents or violations reported. - Documentation Accuracy:
Consistency and accuracy in maintaining progress drawings and project trackers;
Timely submission of material requests and labor reports. - Team Coordination:
Effectiveness in delegating tasks and resolving on-site challenges;
Feedback from team members and the Superintendent on leadership performance.
- Proven experience as an electrician or similar role in the commercial electrical industry.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, construction methods, NEC, and safety regulations.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and project specifications.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- OSHA 10 Certification (minimum). OSHA 30 Certification required after 6 months.
- Proficiency in construction management tools and software for documentation and reporting.
- Journeyman Electrician License.
- Experience running smaller projects independently.
- Familiarity with BIM processes and digital documentation tools.
- Bilingual (Spanish preferred).
