Job SummaryPerforms technical field inspection and office work enforcing national, state, and local codes governing the design, construction, and renovation of buildings, structures, site infrastructures, wastewater treatment facilities, and other public works projects. Work involves inspection of buildings and structures, fire and life safety systems, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical installations. Work requires considerable knowledge of electrical, carpentry, plumbing, building construction, fire and life safety systems, or mechanical field as well as in-depth knowledge of all applicable codes and ordinances.
Employees assigned to this classification must exercise considerable initiative and independent judgment in the interpretation and application of codes in making technical decisions. Work is performed under general supervision, according to established guidelines. Performance is reviewed through reports submitted, meetings, and results obtained for technical sufficiency and consistent application.
Construction Inspector I-C: $26.22 - $33.435
Construction Inspector II-C: $27.70 - $35.315
Construction Inspector III-C: $29.41 - $37.505
Electrical
:
Associate's Degree with construction-related coursework in the area of assignment (electrical); or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. A valid Florida Driver's License is required. Must pass a background check which includes a polygraph.
Construction Inspector I:
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in electrical work or a combination of post-secondary education, training, and experience totaling five (5) years. Must be certified by the Florida Electrical Contractors Licensing Board (ECLB) as a Standard Inspector – Electrical or must obtain State of Florida Provisional Certification within 120 days of hire, and the permanent License must be obtained within two (2) years of receiving the Provisional License.
Construction Inspector II:
Minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in electrical work or an equivalent combination of post-secondary education, training, and experience totaling seven (7) years. Must be certified by the Florida Electrical Contractors Licensing Board (ECLB) as a Standard Inspector – Electrical.
Construction Inspector III:
Minimum of nine (9) years’ experience in electrical work or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience totaling nine (9) years. Must be certified by the Florida Building Code Administrators & Inspector (BCAI) as a Standard Inspector – Electrical.
This is a full-time CONTRACT position with the same benefits as Regular full-time. Most contracts are renewable for terms of one year.

Education Credit EquivalencyIf this posting indicates a degree is required, the following experience will apply in lieu of any degree as follows:
