Rumberger Kirk is seeking a dynamic Director of Business Development to lead our collaborative business development, marketing, and communications team. This strategic leadership role focuses on driving client development, identifying growth opportunities, supporting practice and industry group priorities, and elevating the firm’s brand visibility across key markets.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead a high-performing business development, marketing, and communications team.
  • Partner with practice group leaders and attorneys to create and execute business development strategies, pitches, and client-focused initiatives.
  • Collaborate with attorneys to develop and implement customized business development plans aligned with firm and practice group goals.
  • Oversee public relations initiatives, including media inquiries, awards submissions, and internal and external communications to ensure consistent, brand-aligned messaging.
  • Identify and support networking events, sponsor ships, webinars, and speaking opportunities that elevate the firm’s profile.
  • Identify growth opportunities through client, prospect, and market research.
  • Measure and report on business development and marketing performance using analytics and CRM data to refine strategies.
  • Develop and manage the firm’s marketing budget and ensure strong ROI on initiatives.
  • Oversee the firm’s digital presence, including website, social media, and content strategy.
  • Work with and coach attorneys on their business development plans and activities.
What We’re Looking For
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of business development experience in a law firm or professional services environment.
  • At least 3 years of people management experience.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, develop and execute strategic initiatives, and collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Excellent relationship-building, communication, and collaboration skills.
