Position: Criminal Process Technician I

Job Summary

Starting Pay: $34,777 yearly or $35,820 yearly with 3+ years of experience.

Essential Functions

Responsible for receiving, entering, verifying, processing, and validating various documents related to criminal process. The employee will regularly be required to work weekends, evenings, holidays, or extended shifts; shifts may vary.

Qualifications
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Must be able to comprehend and communicate fluently in verbal and written English.
  • U.S. Citizen or possess a current permanent resident card.
  • Clean criminal history; any arrest history will be individually evaluated.
  • No illegal drug usage within the past year. Other drug usage will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Must be able to obtain FCIC/NCIC certification within six months of employment.
  • Ability to receive paperwork and supporting documentation, including active warrants, court minutes, and court orders.
  • Ability to confirm information/status of reports and research discrepancies and cases of mistaken identity; perform monthly validations and/or statistical reports to ensure accuracy of records.
  • Ability to process paperwork, including recalls for inactive warrants, notification to release forms, and bond paperwork.
  • Ability to enter data and retrieve information from databases such as FCIC/NCIC and agency Records Management System; run queries, modify records, and flag files.
  • Ability to receive and screen telephone calls to determine routing.
  • Ability to provide information and documents to courts, citizens, outside agencies, and other law‑enforcement personnel; answer routine questions and assist individuals with paperwork.
  • Ability to perform other clerical duties: photocopying, faxing, filing, typing, etc.
  • Maintain familiarity with procedures outside primary assignment and assist other units when needed.
  • Act as liaison and conduct follow‑up with judges, judicial assistants, clerk of courts, or other agencies, as needed.
  • Read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Write reports and business correspondence.
  • Effectively present information and respond to questions.
  • Basic computer skills: word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
  • Basic functions in Outlook and research information online.
  • Basic mathematical skills: add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units of measure with whole numbers, fractions, decimals.
  • Apply common‑sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Detail‑oriented, multi‑task within time limits (e.g., simultaneous phone lines and data entry).
  • Present a positive image in person and over phone.
  • Good interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Basic problem‑solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of relevant Florida State Statutes and agency policies.
  • Maintain confidentiality with sensitive information.

  • Some positions may require the candidate to successfully pass a physical or other selection process when needed.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

Physical Demands:
Regularly seated, using hands, reaching, talking, hearing; occasionally standing, walking, climbing, balancing, lifting up to 10 pounds. Requires close vision and focus adjustment.

Work Environment:
Standard office setting; moderate noise level. May be required to work weekends, evenings, holidays, or extended shifts. Must be available to cover 24/7 operations on some assignments.
