Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

• Greet, engage, and assist customers actively and visibly.
• Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently at the check lane.
• Understand and operate the Point of Sale (POS) system, handling various tenders such as Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, loyalty offers, coupons, and checkout procedures per company policy.
• Adhere to company limits on cash shortages and overages, working honestly to control loss.
• Follow guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
• Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
• Follow established policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
• Stay updated with current, upcoming, seasonal, and special ads.
• Comply with all food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Reinforce safety programs, identify unsafe conditions, and notify management.
• Inspect equipment regularly and report repairs needed.
• Create a welcoming environment, assisting customers with product inquiries.
• Follow all relevant laws and company policies.
• Work effectively in a high-paced, stressful environment and manage conflicts professionally.
• Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
• Follow directions and seek help when needed to resolve issues.
• Support customers, including minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
• Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations.

Qualifications

Minimum Position Qualifications:

• Customer service experience
• Effective communication skills
• Basic math skills (counting, addition, subtraction)

Desired Previous Job Experience:

• Customer service experience
• Experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk
