Role Overview

The Retail Associate ensures our customers have a positive shopping experience. The associate greets and assists customers, maintains a clean and well‑presented store, follows company best‑practice standards, and supports operational goals. Associates may be requested to perform additional tasks as needed to help achieve customer service and operational objectives.

Essential Functions
  • Place safety first and practice safe behaviors in all activities.
  • Maintain awareness on the sales floor, keeping the area clutter‑free and ensuring safe egress to emergency exits. Report unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Treat customers and associates with respect and courtesy; perform friendly service at all times.
  • Assist customers, including register training, product assistance, and answering questions politely and knowledgeably.
  • Provide prompt responses to customer service calls and handle customer issues courteously; involve store leadership as needed.
  • Represent and support the company brand at all times.
  • Conduct cleaning tasks—sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors, replenishing restroom supplies, disinfecting high‑touch areas—to maintain merchandise, customer and team areas.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to the company dress code.
  • Perform daily sizing and recovery to keep the store neat, clean, and merchandise‑organized per best practice.
  • Expedite newly received merchandise to the sales floor with urgency and compliance to month‑end presentation guidelines.
  • Understand the Loss Prevention Awareness program, Shortage Highway, Store Protection Specialist (where applicable), and merchandise protection standards.
  • Demonstrate integrity and honesty in all interactions, safeguarding confidential information, cash, credit card information, and merchandise.
  • Follow all Mark‑Out‑of‑Stock (MOS) policies, including identification, processing, and leadership notification for disposals.
  • Follow all cash, check, charge‑card, and refund procedures; maintain accuracy and awareness.
  • Demonstrate urgency, maximize productivity, and minimize steps and touches in workflow.

Qualifications and Special Skills Required
  • Communicate with customers, associates and store leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative and pleasant manner.
  • Perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
Physical Requirements / ADA
  • Use store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PC as required.
  • Spend up to 100 % of working time standing, walking, and moving around the store.
  • Regularly bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
  • Occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 lbs.
  • Use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other assigned supplies.
  • Certain assignments may require additional qualifications and skills.
  • Stockroom shifts:
    Push, pull, and lift more than 20 lbs.
