Salary range: $40.79 - $53.03 per hour. Placement within the range depends on experience, internal equity, and collective bargaining agreements for union positions.

Description

The Physical Therapist reflects the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Medicine (NM), adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics, and complies with all policies, procedures, guidelines, and regulatory standards.

  • Licensed physical therapist in compliance with the Illinois state standards and the Code of Ethics.
  • Direct patient care, teaching, committee participation, and departmental process improvement.
  • Role model for therapists and clinical interns in professional, clinical, communication, education and leadership activities.
Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate NM values of teamwork, patient first, integrity, and excellence in daily work.
  • Present a friendly, approachable, professional demeanor.
  • Provide accurate information and timely updates to patients and customers, addressing questions promptly or directing them to appropriate resources.
  • Use effective service recovery skills to resolve problems or service breakdowns.
  • Maintain primary responsibility for patient plans of care, collaborating with PT/ PTA teams.
  • Demonstrate teamwork by helping co‑workers within and across departments; communicate effectively, respect diverse opinions, and acknowledge contributions.
  • Use organizational and departmental resources efficiently.
  • Manage work schedule efficiently, completing tasks and assignments on time.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement opportunities and processes.
  • Participate in cost‑reduction and process‑streamlining efforts to improve services.
  • Apply creative problem‑solving and diversity when adapting treatment to special circumstances.
  • Use appropriate evaluation and treatment modalities; perform re‑evaluations per guidelines and adjust plans as needed.
  • Take responsibility for patient management from initial contact to discharge, ensuring functional progress, safety, and outcome.
  • Adhere to department policy for evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries; document in the electronic medical record.
  • Complete daily notes reflecting patient response, performance, and assessment; meet all documentation requirements.
  • Provide educational materials and methods tailored to patient understanding and motivation.
  • Participate in committees, departmental processes, and special projects, aligning with clinical expertise.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with the healthcare team, including physicians, nurses, and case managers.
  • Participate in internal and external marketing as per departmental expectations.
  • Create a culture of respectful communication, listening, and timely acknowledgement of team contributions.
  • Accept constructive feedback and make timely changes, evidenced by coaching forms and team feedback.
  • Complete non‑patient care responsibilities within established timelines.
  • Contribute to educational efforts (in‑services, journal clubs, new hire orientation, etc.) as per departmental expectations.
  • Serve as a clinical instructor, mentor, or observation host for student clinical or observation programs.
  • Maintain productivity standards per departmental expectations.
  • Be willing to flex schedule or assignment to meet patient care needs and departmental meetings outside normal work hours.

This position supports our growing population at the Orland Park Health and Fitness Center to meet rehab needs (orthopedic and neurological).

Full‑time: 80 hours per pay period, Monday through Friday. Must be willing to work two evenings per week, until 7:00 p.m.
