The job of Custodian – Head Sweeper Elementary is to provide custodial services at the assigned site, ensuring an attractive, sanitary and safe environment for students, staff, and visitors. Duties include special cleaning operations, preparing facilities for classroom activities and campus events, overseeing custodians, and ensuring all assignments are completed safely, properly, and timely.
Essential Functions- Cleans assigned facilities and/or grounds (e.g., classrooms, offices, gym, restrooms, multipurpose rooms, pools, grounds) to maintain a sanitary, safe, and attractive environment.
- Delivers a variety of items (e.g., supplies, mail, packages, furniture) for distribution.
- Distributes custodial supplies and equipment to staff or storage locations.
- Lifts up to 80 pounds and may push or pull up to 150 pounds for site maintenance, material distribution, and safety.
- Maintains supplies and equipment (e.g., cleaning solutions, paper products, vacuums, mops) to ensure availability.
- Oversees facility maintenance activities and custodial personnel to ensure efficient compliance with standards.
- Participates in meetings, workshops, trainings, and seminars to gather or convey information required to perform duties.
- Prepares written materials (e.g., supply requisitions, safety inspections, work orders, inventory records, time sheets) to document activities.
- Prepares the site for daily operations (e.g., opening gates, raising flags, sweeping walkways) to keep facilities operational and hazard‑free.
- Requisition s equipment, supplies, and materials to maintain job efficiency.
- Responds to immediate safety or operational concerns (e.g., facility damage, vandalism, alarms) by taking action or notifying personnel.
- Secures facilities and grounds (e.g., doors, gates, alarms, lights) to minimize property damage and liability.
- Trains assigned personnel to develop trade and safety awareness skills.
- Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
- Age 16 or older.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Job‑related experience is required.
