Working under the guidance of the Senior Director, you will play a vital role in coordinating daily operations—welcoming and assisting visitors, monitoring shared spaces, maintaining program information, supporting departmental logistics, and supervising student employees.

  • Facilitates the basic day-to-day functions of front desk reception, monitoring the use of space to ensure appropriate patron use, ensuring spaces are clean, supplies are available, etc., within both the upper and lower office suites, maintaining workroom supplies and inventory, etc. Supervises student employees to ensure regular, consistent coverage of front desk reception and to ensure that miscellaneous department needs are met.

    Provides training on department functionality and access to visiting patrons, campus partners, etc.
  • Performs advanced and confidential administrative duties, including the obtainment of factual information requiring knowledge of policies and procedures. Assists with the preparation of reports, evaluations, and proposals to assess department programs. Maintains internal department databases and websites, ensuring information is up to date and accessible. Assists in marketing efforts of Student Leadership & Involvement, programming, and educational information.
  • Prepares and manages department budgets, monitoring and reconciling expenditures. Oversees the payroll process, including preparation, submission, monitoring, and maintenance of payroll records. Coordinates area financial activities, including timecards, ePAFS, requisitions, contracts/agreements, new hire paperwork completion, and submission for part-time/full-time staff and student employees.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned, necessary to the success of the Department of Student Leadership & Involvement and programs therein, including assistance in executing departmental projects/events.

Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor's degree related to the Summary of Duties or any combination of education and/or experience totaling four years.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Work experience within higher education, specifically student life and/or student leadership.
  • One or more years of experience in customer service.
  • One or more years of experience in supervising part-time employees.
  • Project and program management skills, including the development, implementation, management, and evaluation.
  • Basic technological skills, including but not limited to word processing, email communications, spreadsheets, etc.
Knowledge
  • Knowledge of and commitment to student involvement.
  • Knowledge of planning, developing, and coordinating student events/activities.
  • General understanding of university budgets, policy, and procedures.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of common university services.
Skills
  • Project and program management skills, including conception, development, implementation, management, and evaluation.
  • Basic technological skills, including but not limited to word processing, email communications, spreadsheets, etc.
  • Basic skills in public speaking and presentation to small and large groups.
Abilities
  • Ability to perform a variety of administrative support duties with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written procedures and instructions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically, verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to coordinate and assist in the preparation and monitoring of departmental financial transactions.
  • Ability to work independently on multiple tasks.
  • Ability to prioritize and follow projects through to successful completion despite frequent interruptions and conflicting time demands.
  • Ability to contribute to a collaborative environment as a team player.
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate, develop, and sustain relationships with others.
