TITLE: School Day Para Professional
EDUCATION LEVEL: Bachelor degree or equivalent accreditation
COMPENSATION: $23-25 per hour
WORK SCHEDULE: Part-time, school year (August - May), 36 weeks, specific hours, days, times, determined by
site/area. Programs follow the school district calendar, including holidays, breaks, SSP/school events. Depending
on school and community needs, a summer program may be possible to continue working throughout the year.
LOCATION: Orem Jr High School, Orem, UT
PROGRAM HOURS: 9 am to 1:30 pm M-F
Mission:
The mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Utah, Wasatch, & Beaver counties and Southern Utah areas is to inspire
and enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as productive,
caring, and responsible citizens and leaders.
JOB SUMMARY:
Provides activities during flex period that correspond with social and emotional learning. Promote positive
relationships during the school day lunch period through activities.
KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):
Prepare Youth for Success
Plan and oversee high-quality activities that support Youth Development Outcomes of
academic success, healthy lifestyles, and developing strong character to make a difference in
the community through:
● Establishing objectives consistent with the school and organization's goals and mission.
● Oversee day-to-day programming and systems in accordance with established standards and grant goals.
● Oversees provision of guidance services to members to assist them to fulfill and make appropriate choices in
educational, personal, physical, social, emotional, vocational needs and provide a safe and positive environment
for members.
● Demonstrates leadership to assure conduct, physical and emotional safety and development of members
through adhering to all policies and procedures and providing proper supervision.
● Maintains membership records, daily attendance, and club registration, grant records.
● Ensure the evaluation of Club programs on a continual basis and ensure programs/clubs respond to member
needs and address their gender and cultural diversity.
School-day Site Director - Additional Responsibilities
● Provide in-person training and support to at-risk students during the school day, as guided by school
administrators and counselors. This could be tutoring, social skills lessons, or related activities.
● Coordinate weekly with school administrators and teachers to discuss and assign topics for school-day
sessions, assignments, delivery methods, and attendance tracking.
● Update school-day social skills lesson plans and schedules as needed to align with the teachers'
requirements or specific topics assigned by the school administration.
● Develop and implement a school-day schedule for social skills sessions that meets grant requirements,
ensuring one hour of approved social skills sessions or social skills-enriched activities each week
throughout the entire school year.
● Record daily school-day program attendance using the BGC attendance tracker.
● Ensure that all participants in the school day complete social skills assessments each quarter during the
school year and compile the assessment data.
Relationships
Internal: Maintains close, daily contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer), Club members, and
supervisor to receive/provide information, explain guidelines/ instructions; instruct; and advise/counsel.
External: Maintains contact with external community groups, schools, members' parents, and others to assist
in resolving concerns.
RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE:
Ensuring Program Quality Standards and Continuous Quality Improvement by:
● Complying to all expectations and requirements of assigned Grants
● Managing registration and recruitment for the site program
● Hiring and training of all site staff
● Approving timecards and completing employee evaluations
● Ensuring program quality through Program Quality Assessment (PQA) standards.
● Following all Child Care Licensing, Boys & Girls Club of America, and Nutrition requirements
● Maintaining a positive relationship with the host site school
● Managing site budget, purchasing, and inventory
