Position SummaryThe position is full‑time, 186 days/year with a typical Monday‑Friday schedule, no more than 40 hours per week. The role is not eligible for telecommuting and involves direct, face‑to‑face work with children and families.
Assists the teacher by providing instruction, supervision, and appropriate learning activities for all enrolled children at a specified site. Under the teacher’s direction, delivers comprehensive educational services to Head Start children, including those with IEPs, behavioral support or health plans, and English language learners. Supports overall development—social, intellectual, physical, and emotional—in a developmentally appropriate manner, aligned with Head Start Performance Standards, the 2007 Improving Head Start for School Readiness Act, and ELE policies.
Minimum Qualifications- Must have a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or be enrolled in a CDA credential program and complete it within two (2) years. ELE may assist with the cost if funds are available.
- Experience working with preschool children or preschool lab work leading to a degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) preferred.
- Associate or Baccalaureate degree (in any area) or enrollment in a program leading to a degree.
- Associate or Baccalaureate degree in ECE, Elementary Education, Child Development, or a closely related field preferred.
- Bilingual Spanish proficiency desirable and may be required in some locations.
- Transcript showing degree award/confer date attached to the application.
- Maintains current inter‑rater reliability in Teaching Strategies Gold (TSG).
- Substantial knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate teaching practices.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to handle/re‑direct child challenging behaviors.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and develop solutions with limited supervision.
- Proficient English speaking and writing to meet job requirements.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, parents, community groups, and agencies.
- $18.96/hour – No CDA credential / CDA in progress
- $19.30/hour – CDA credential earned
- $19.85/hour – AA in ECE or related field
- $21.72/hour – BA in ECE or related field
The pay structure follows a school‑district model with annualized paychecks spread through bi‑weekly periods, allowing staff to receive pay even during summer months. Salary range: $18.96‑$21.72 per hour.

Bilingual Spanish proficiency is desirable.
