Serve in a meaningful leadership role that directly supports student success at Utah Valley University. As a Resident Leader for TRIO Pre‑College Programs, you play a vital part in creating a safe, supportive overnight environment for high school students living on campus. This position offers hands‑on experience in student leadership, supervision, and crisis response while working closely with professional staff in a mission‑driven program focused on access and opportunity in higher education.

This position is ideal for individuals who are dependable, attentive, and comfortable working overnight hours.

The role requires continuous wakefulness from 11:00 PM to 8:00 AM
, during which you will monitor student well‑being, conduct room checks, escort students as needed, and communicate promptly with program staff. It’s an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience in student affairs while making a positive impact during a critical summer program.

This temporary position runs from May 26, 2026 through June 26, 2026

  • Supervises and ensures the safety of students while they sleep in the dorms, maintaining a calm and secure environment throughout the night.
  • Conducts and documents hourly bedroom checks to verify student presence and well‑being, following established safety protocols.
  • Escorts students to and from the UVU campus as needed, ensuring accountability and supervision during transitions.
  • Promptly reports any incidents, behavioral concerns, or emergencies to the TRIO Pre‑College Programs Director.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

A high school diploma from a standard high school or the equivalent and any combination of post‑high school education and/or directly related full‑time experience to the Summary of Duties totaling six months is required.

  • Skilled in quickly adapting to different situations and adjusting to the program's changing needs.

  • Ability to interact professionally/appropriately with a diverse population of high school students.
  • Ability to maintain a positive and engaging environment for participants.
  • Ability to collaborate and work cohesively with other program staff.
