Certified Nurse Midwife – Labor and Delivery/Strawberry Wilderness Clinic | Full Time Position Summary:

The Certified Nurse Midwife will provide comprehensive patient-centered care to women of all ages. This role will collaborate with other healthcare professionals to enhance women’s health in our community. The Nurse Midwife will provide comprehensive prenatal care, assist during labor and delivery, provide postpartum care and participate in education about pregnancy, childbirth and breastfeeding. The nurse midwife will also perform routine exams and screenings for women of all ages including contraception and menopause management.

Participate in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Promote the Mission, Vision and Values of BMHD.
  • Provide an active presence as part of the SWCC clinical team, providing assessments and treatments that promote women’s health.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with primary care providers to ensure comprehensive care for patients.
  • Lead and teach prenatal classes.
  • Provide pre-natal assessments, screenings, and education to expectant mothers.
  • Assist women during labor and delivery, working with the nursing team, offering emotional and physical support and managing complications as they arise.
  • Direct nurses in the care of the labor and delivery patient.
  • Provide postpartum assessments and support to mothers and newborns, work with nursing staff to provide breastfeeding assistance and education on newborn care.
  • Conduct routine women’s health exams for all ages, including gynecology, breast exams, contraception, and menopausal care.
  • Follow hospital approved policies and procedures.
  • Assist with development of new policies and procedures for the L&D department
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of visits, and services provided to each patient. Submit encounter and billing data in a timely fashion.
  • Participate in required meetings such as medical staff, interdisciplinary team meetings, quality Improvement.
  • Maintain cooperative working relationships with clinic and hospital staff, patients, other organizations, and the public to provide quality customer service in a courteous manner.
  • Perform other responsibilities or related duties as assigned by the Chief Nursing Officer.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Advanced clinical skills including suturing and emergency care.
  • Able to successfully prioritize when faced with critical situations.
  • Proven ability to work as part of a team, in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrates excellent judgment and decision- making abilities.
  • Working knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements, CMS, National Patient Safety Goals.
Education Requirements:

Required:

  • Master’s degree in Nurse-Midwifery or related field
  • Prior experience in labor and delivery, midwifery practice
  • Certification by the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB)
Certification / License Requirements:

Required:

  • Advanced Practice Registered Nurse License (APRN)
  • BLS, ACLS, NRP
