Under general supervision and in collaboration with other members of the healthcare team, this RN uses clinical judgment skills to diagnose and treat human responses to actual or potential health problems. The RN assesses, plans, directs, provides, and evaluates nursing care for patients and coordinates nursing care activities with other healthcare disciplines.

• Assessment:
  Performs accurate multi-system assessments, including biophysical, psychosocial, environmental, self-care, education needs, and discharge planning needs. Identifies deviations from normal on routine lab diagnostic tests and reassesses patients throughout hospitalization. Performs complete discharge assessment.
• Planning:
  Develops an individual nursing plan of care sensitive to the developmental needs of the patient. Coordinates patient care activities and discharge planning with other hospital and clinic departments and community agencies. Documents patient teaching plan on the care plan. Delegates patient care activities based on patients condition and scope of practice of other health care providers. Establishes priories for patient care and classifies acuity level of assigned patients.
• Implementation:
  Initiates appropriate measures based on protocol for the management of medical and surgical patients. Bases nursing care on protocol in place for each patient. Correctly carries out the physician's plan of care. Accurately documents in the EMR and utilizes a multidisciplinary approach when appropriate. Performs all necessary procedures correctly and effectively administers medications. Initiates appropriate measures in emergency situations.
• Evaluation:
  Evaluates assessment methods, plan of care, and patient response to treatment. Participates in unit quality assurance activities.

• Minimum nine (9) months of RN experience.
• One (1) year of current ED experience or successful completion of the Kaiser Permanente New Graduate Internship Program in the ED.
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Registered Nurse License (Oregon).
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support within 6 months of hire OR Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course within 6 months of hire.
• NIH Stroke Scale Certificate within 3 months of hire.
• Basic Life Support.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support.

• Previous health care experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field.
• CEN preferred.
• TNCC preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to recognize and interpret cardiac dysrhythmias.
• A desire and ability to function within the nursing process.
• A desire and ability to function within professional and personnel standards as defined.
• Ability to use and apply effective communication and interpersonal relationship skills.

• Computer keyboarding skills.
• Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course.
