Job Summary

The Weekend & Evening
* Assistant Manager oversees daily operations of The End Bookstore focusing on people management, and operational excellence. This role fosters a welcoming environment for staff and customers. Key responsibilities include managing bookseller tasks, supporting in-store marketing efforts, and collaborating with the broader management team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Daily Operations:
    • Manage daily store operations, including scheduling and opening/closing procedures.
    • Ensure smooth communication between all team members.
    • Manage author and non-author events on weekends and some weekday evenings.
  • Team Management:
    • Supervise and schedule booksellers, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
    • Train and mentor staff to deliver exceptional customer service.
    • Create and Manage Monthly and Daily schedules.
  • Customer Service:
    • Lead by example to provide excellent customer service.
    • Resolve customer concerns and ensure a positive shopping experience
    • Lead coordinator for B2B and school sales.
  • Work closely with the leadership team.
  • Manager to align strategies and execute store initiatives.
  • Maintain visually appealing, organized displays and implement merchandising strategies.
  • Coordinate product setups for new releases, events, and promotions with Buyer and management
Experience & Skills
  • Must love BOOKS!
  • Min 2+ years of retail experience, bookselling a plus.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with retail POS systems, MS Office, Google and other planning software.
  • Please note experience in any of the following programs:
    Anthology, Edelweiss, Indie commerce (2.0), Eventbrite, or Canva(pro).
  • Interest in marketing, event management, graphic design, and/or writing and editing a plus.
Working Conditions
  • Weekends, 9am - 5pm, including holidays, and one week day per week. Approximately 20-25 hrs per/week
  • Weekdays, evening events.
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods and perform lifting tasks up to 50 lbs.

We will be accepting applications through the end of July. Start date early/mid-August, prior to the busy Fall/Winter season.

Compensation

$10-15/hr, depending on experience.

Holiday bonus and program incentives per defined role.
