Description

Position Summary

The Shop Clerk supports the Maintenance team under the direction of the Director of Farming by coordinating parts purchasing, maintaining inventory levels, and assisting with administrative tasks for fleet and equipment repairs. The position is detail-oriented, works closely with Maintenance personnel, and operates out of the maintenance shop for the blueberry and hazelnut farms. The role is essential to support organizational goals and model best practices, guided by our values of Excellence, Accountability, Transparency, and Stewardship (EATS).

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Places parts and supply orders for fleet and equipment needs.
  • Searches pricing options and suppliers to obtain the best value.
  • Maintains accurate inventory of parts, supplies, and shop tools.
  • Receives shipments and verifies packing lists and invoices.
  • Tracks usage and reorders supplies as needed.
  • Assists mechanics in locating parts and materials.
  • Organizes storage shelves and labels inventory locations.
  • Maintains purchase logs and related documentation.
  • Supports equipment and fleet service recordkeeping.
  • Maintains a clean and organized shop area.
  • Follows shop safety rules and uses PPE when required.
  • Communicates with vendors and the farm team regarding orders.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements

Skills and Abilities
  • Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills.
  • Ability to learn part names, tools, and equipment components.
  • Basic farm equipment and vehicle mechanic knowledge.
  • Computer skills for data entry and purchasing.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with staff and suppliers.
  • Attention to detail and follow-through on orders.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience in purchasing, inventory, or shop work preferred.
  • Mechanical or agricultural background a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Bilingual verbal and written English/Spanish.
Working Conditions &

Physical Requirements

This position is performed primarily outdoors and requires sustained walking, standing, bending, pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Work is performed in proximity to farming equipment and machinery. The environment includes exposure to heat, cold, precipitation, uneven terrain, dust, and moderate to loud noise. Extended hours and weekends may be required. Some work spaces may require employees to ascend or descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, and similar structures during daily responsibilities.
