Overview
The Configuration Analyst oversees the Configuration systems and processes, updates them as necessary, and recommends improvements in addition to programming the Configurator for new and revised products.
Duties and Responsibilities:Cultivates ongoing communication within the department and with customers to encourage continuous improvement. Plans, schedules & leads Configurator projects and works as a consultant to Engineering, Product Management, and other departments during product launches. Works on special corporate projects, and gives direction to Sr. Systems Specialists and Systems Specialists as necessary.Tests the quality and functionality of the Configuration systems and processes and determines the best way to modify the systems to meet users’ needs. Acts as the key point person with expert knowledge of the system details, and refers team members to the appropriate system documentation.Ensures all ordering tools are synchronized and consistent, and updates the Configuration systems as required.Fully understands and maintains work instructions and training materials, and compiles internal documentation to track training. Stays current on Configuration technology through continuing education, seeking opportunities to use these tools to improve the department.Independently builds and maintains the product structure, and programs the configuration rules when a Product Change Authorization (PCA) is received, including user interface, product features, options, rules, constraints, bills of materials, routing, item data, pricing, and order acknowledgements. Reviews and writes PCAs based on product knowledge to ensure configuration information is complete.Creates Configurator Change Requests (CCRs) outlining work for each change, sets up and maintains product features, options, descriptions, pricing, bills of materials, routing, and items necessary for the Configurator, and maintains system data to ensure accurate customer order acknowledgements.Sets up and maintains the user interface for all A-dec models in the customer order entry portal to ensure correct product configuration.Sets up and maintains the translator converting features and options into file formats for visual models and engineering models used in production planning.Disclaimer
