The AHA Instructor, under the direction of the UFHCF Corporate Director of Clinical Education, is responsible for teaching American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Life Support (PALS) training courses. The AHA Coordinator provides scheduling and class instruction opportunities to the AHA Instructor. The position is responsible for providing high quality instruction while demonstrating professionalism and accountability.
The AHA Instructor will:
- Teach AHA certification classes effectively and with enthusiasm to engage students
- Facilitate video presentations, instructor lectures, skills demonstrations, testing students, answering questions, remediating when appropriate, and completing post-course rosters, paperwork
- Physically demonstrate correct mannequin skills on all mannequins (infant, child, adult) on the ground/floor and table
- Submit all required documentation timely
- Set up, clean, and store equipment appropriately and independently
- Communicate effectively with AHA Coordinator, Clinical Education Director, fellow instructors, and UFHCF Team Members
This is a PRN Day Shift position.
Qualifications- Education
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Licensure/Certification/Registration
- Current license as Paramedic in the State of Florida required OR Current license as an LPN or RN in the State of Florida
- American Heart Association provider certification required for:
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Cardiac Life Support (PALS)
- American Heart Association instructor certification required for:
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Cardiac Life Support (PALS)
- Special Skills/Qualifications/Additional Training/Experience Required
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
- Must be computer literate and have ability to use email, and online programs regarding training classes and documentation
- Minimum 2 years American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, and PALS instructor certification required
- Minimum 2 years recent pre-hospital emergency medical services (EMS) response required
