Compass Oncology, the largest private oncology practice in the Pacific Northwest, is looking to add an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to our Oregon Cancer Centers. The APP will join the Gynecologic Oncology team seeing patients in partnership with our Gyn Physicians, hold independent clinics, and assist in the operating room. The provider will educate patients on treatments, provide post‑operative care, build patient relationships through long‑term follow‑up clinics, and provide general support to maintain the high level of care our patients expect.

    Full‑Time, 32 hours or 0.8 FTE
  • Location:

    Will float between our East Cancer Clinic (Clackamas, OR) and our Vancouver Cancer Clinic (Vancouver, WA)
  • Salary Range: $113,048 – $204,443 (note: this band is for 1.0 FTE and will be adjusted based on FTE)
  • Final offer amounts are determined by a review of the candidate’s applicable experience and qualifications, as well as internal employee equity considerations.
SCOPE

Under supervision or in collaboration with practice physicians, involve in the care of individuals, families and patient groups dealing with cancer or related diagnosis. Care may be in clinic or virtually via telemedicine. Responsibilities may include duties related to prevention, screening, patient care, management, and research. May serve as direct caregiver, health care consultant, patient educator, administrator, or researcher. Ensures compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards and requirements.

Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for patients in tandem with Physician and care team.
  • Serve as OR assistant in surgeries performed by Compass physicians.
  • Initiate and document appropriate interventions; evaluate and record patient/family response and prescribe therapies as indicated.
  • Perform procedures and post‑operative care with minimal supervision.
  • Assess patient/family needs and provide education.
  • Promote wellness and recommend community resources to meet patient and family needs.
  • Often incorporate evidence‑based research into clinical practice.
  • Maintain solid knowledge of reimbursement procedures and documentation requirements.
  • Complete patient charge capture and medical record documentation in a timely fashion.
  • Likely provide case management for patients and their families.
  • Sometimes serve as a resource for nursing staff by providing information about clinical trials.
  • May provide palliative care and/or survivorship for the patient and their families as needed.
  • May promote or provide staff education.
  • Responsibilities may include rounding at affiliated hospitals, weekend or after‑hour calls.
  • May mentor new advanced practice providers.
  • May precept APP students.
  • Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION

Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Current NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants) certification.
  • Current state license as a Physician Assistant in practicing state.
  • Current basic life support (BLS)/CPR certification required.
EXPERIENCE / TRAINING

Minimum (3) years of experience as a practicing Physician Assistant, preferred.
