Job SummaryThe Psycho-educational Specialist provides direct patient care under the supervision of a designated healthcare professional in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations, and within policies, procedures, and guidelines of Bon Secours Mercy Health (BSMH).
Essential Functions- Facilitate individual and/or support groups within the psychoeducation scope, and may participate in family meetings and treatment team meetings.
- Provide community resource knowledge and coordinate related activities.
- Provide 1:1 patient safety companion service as needed, and conduct patient checks as assigned.
- Participate in care planning and discharge planning in collaboration with the Social Worker team.
- Participate in continued education and in‑service training.
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy, Recreational Therapy, Expressive Therapy (Music, Dance/Movement), Counseling, or Human Services (required).
- Must be licensed, certified, or registered as appropriate by state and national licensing boards in one of the following (required):
- Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS)
- Registered Art Therapist (ATR)
- Provisional Registered Art Therapist (ATR‑P)
- Board Certified Art Therapist (ATR‑BC)
- Music Therapist‑Board Certified (MT‑BC)
- Registered Dance/Movement Therapist (R‑DMT)
- Occupational Therapist Licensed (OTR/L)
- 1 year of experience in a social services or human services setting (required).
