This is a part time position split between our Bend and Remond offices.
JOB SUMMARY: As part of the Program’s SUD Treatment Team, the Gambling Addiction Counselor facilitates individual recovery from both problem gambling and SUD disorders and includes individual and group counseling services to patients participating in the Program, as well as to clients and to family members on theories and treatment of gambling and substance use disorders using a patient-centered approach. The Gambling Addiction Counselor also functions as community liaison for a patient-centered and harm-reduction approach to gambling and substance use disorder treatment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Completes intakes, assessments and develops treatment plans as appropriate using American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) criteria to assess for appropriate levels of patient care (LOC) and integration with Mental Health, Gambling, and SUD programs;
Works closely with the Treatment Team with assigned caseload of clients enrolled in the Program;
Ensures that GPMS, client enrollment surveys, semi-annual satisfaction surveys and other required data is reported to Herbert and Louis.
Collaborates with clients on completion of individualized treatment plans that contain goals and objectives that are measurable and are based on assessed needs and problems;
Provides treatment through a variety of modalities including individual sessions, group counseling, and family counseling, as well as case management services, ensuring individualized, quality care, working collaboratively with treatment team members and other agencies and applying principles, procedures, techniques, trends, and literature of individual and group counseling;
Leads psycho-educational, skill development, relapse prevention, process, gender-specific, and family groups as assigned;
Develops or finds group curriculum to ensure engaging, supportive, and valuable group experience for clients across a diverse spectrum of the recovery process, including aftercare;
Creates an atmosphere of learning for clients in all stages of change and ensures that clients feel welcome in the program regardless of gambling behavior;
Works closely with referral sources, keeping them informed on the progress of the client, as needed and as appropriate to client confidentiality;
Incorporates peer mentor recovery services as appropriate and possible. Encourages longstanding clients with solid recovery into mentorship roles;
Ensures, to the greatest extent possible, that referral calls from hotline and other resources are answered by either counselor or mentor and that an assessment can be scheduled within 72 hours;
Offers 3 contacts per week for intensive clients;
Applies for variance requests as appropriate;
Works with program supervisor on clients finding outreach and community relationships, strategic planning, education, and supervision;
Works effectively with program supervisor all recovery resource providers and all agencies in the community to provide seamless continuum of care for patients with substance use disorders;
Provides information about the Program to individuals, the public and an outreach to community groups;
Maintains compliance with all state and federal laws and regulations, as they pertain to position including HIPAA, scope of practice, accreditation standards, OHA and OSHA;
Maintains documentation of client services in the electronic client file (EHR), in a timely manner in accordance with policies and procedures and regulatory standards;
Other related duties as assigned.
