Job SummaryThe Nurse Manager II is responsible for leading and managing patient care delivery, clinical operations, and nursing practice standards across multiple hospital units. This role oversees implementation of best practice models, ensures compliance with regulatory and safety standards, and fosters collaboration across multidisciplinary healthcare teams to deliver high‑quality, patient‑centered care. This position operates within a 24‑hours‑a‑day, seven‑days‑a‑week hospital environment and requires strong clinical expertise, operational leadership, workforce management, and change‑management capabilities.
Key Responsibilities Leadership & People Management- Create and advocate for professional development opportunities; promote collaboration and engagement
- Hire, train, coach, and develop staff; support succession planning
- Set performance expectations and provide ongoing feedback
- Foster open dialogue, motivation, and teamwork across units
- Delegate appropriately while supporting decision‑making and growth
- Translate business plans into actionable unit‑level operations
- Ensure compliance with all hospital policies, procedures, and standards
- Partner with physicians, healthcare leaders, and stakeholders to meet care delivery goals
- Monitor staffing, scheduling, and resource utilization
- Oversee payroll, non‑payroll budgets, and financial performance
- Ensure compliance with the Nursing Practice Act, The Joint Commission (TJC), and federal, state, and local regulations
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives in quality, safety, and patient outcomes
- Drive audit readiness, mock surveys, and regulatory compliance activities
- Maintain a safe environment for patients and staff
- Lead nursing services across multiple departments within a 24/7 environment
- Ensure standardized, evidence‑based care delivery
- Maintain clinical expertise and provide clinical supervision
- Manage equipment, supplies, and medication usage
- Address patient and family concerns related to care and services
- Assist in the design and execution of emergency preparedness plans
- Ensure staff are trained and understand emergency protocols
- Lead and adapt to organizational change initiatives
