The Montgomery County Department of Police is a nationally accredited agency and the primary law enforcement agency for Montgomery County, Maryland. With more than 1,200 sworn officers, assisted by over 600 support personnel, the agency provides the full spectrum of policing services to a county of over 1 million people. We are located just North of Washington DC.

The department is currently looking for police officer applicants who are ready to answer the call for a challenging and rewarding career in law enforcement. Our police officers receive very comprehensive training in a brand-new training facility and all uniforms and equipment are provided. We offer many opportunities to serve, including our 6 District Police Stations and over 50 specialized units.

• High School Diploma
• Not less than 21 years old at the time of graduation from the academy.
• United States Citizenship—OR—permanent legal resident of the United States who is an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Armed Forces, and who has applied to obtain United States Citizenship, and the application is still pending approval.
• Valid driver’s license.

A comprehensive background investigation will be conducted by the MCPD.

A written examination, scored interview, polygraph examination, and psychological and medical examinations will be conducted.
