Job Summary
Bethany Middle School is seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to join our team as a 6th Grade Science Teacher. The ideal candidate will inspire a love of science in students while fostering critical thinking, inquiry-based learning, and a collaborative classroom environment. This full-time position requires a commitment to student success and the ability to engage with diverse learners in a dynamic educational setting.
Responsibilities- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with state standards and curriculum objectives.
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and fosters a love for science.
- Utilize a variety of teaching methods and resources to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
- Assess student progress through formative and summative assessments, providing timely feedback to students and parents.
- Collaborate with colleagues to integrate science concepts across the curriculum and participate in interdisciplinary projects.
- Organize and facilitate hands-on experiments, field trips, and other experiential learning opportunities.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and performance.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff to support student learning and development.
- Stay current with advancements in science education and incorporate best practices into teaching strategies.
- Participate in professional development opportunities and contribute to the school community through extracurricular activities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Science, or a related field.
- Valid teaching certification for middle school science or eligibility to obtain certification.
- Previous teaching experience, preferably at the middle school level, is preferred but not required.
- Strong knowledge of scientific concepts and the ability to convey complex ideas in an accessible manner.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, and parents.
- Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
- Proficiency in using technology and educational software to enhance learning experiences.
- Passion for science education and a desire to inspire students to explore and understand the world around them.
