Job Summary

Bethany Middle School is seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to join our team as a 6th Grade Science Teacher. The ideal candidate will inspire a love of science in students while fostering critical thinking, inquiry-based learning, and a collaborative classroom environment. This full-time position requires a commitment to student success and the ability to engage with diverse learners in a dynamic educational setting.

• Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with state standards and curriculum objectives.
• Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and fosters a love for science.
• Utilize a variety of teaching methods and resources to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
• Assess student progress through formative and summative assessments, providing timely feedback to students and parents.
• Collaborate with colleagues to integrate science concepts across the curriculum and participate in interdisciplinary projects.
• Organize and facilitate hands-on experiments, field trips, and other experiential learning opportunities.
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and performance.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff to support student learning and development.
• Stay current with advancements in science education and incorporate best practices into teaching strategies.
• Participate in professional development opportunities and contribute to the school community through extracurricular activities.

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Science, or a related field.
• Valid teaching certification for middle school science or eligibility to obtain certification.
• Previous teaching experience, preferably at the middle school level, is preferred but not required.
• Strong knowledge of scientific concepts and the ability to convey complex ideas in an accessible manner.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, and parents.
• Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
• Proficiency in using technology and educational software to enhance learning experiences.
• Passion for science education and a desire to inspire students to explore and understand the world around them.
