Position: Tutor - STUDENT ONLY

Overview

This position is for CURRENT STUDENTS ONLY. Applications are collected for possible immediate or future college vacancies. This is a temporary and often sporadic employment. You may only be contacted if the review of your application results in the intent to pursue candidacy. Students who will be at Chemeketa for less than two terms will not be considered. Students may apply to our part-time hourly pool HERE.

This position is for a student worker to provide peer tutoring at Salem Campus, Yamhill Valley Campus, Woodburn Center, and/or the Polk Center. Required training is provided.

Salary and Schedule

Salary placement is dependent upon the position.

Work Schedule:

approximately 10 to 15 hours per week.

Essential Functions
  • Assist students with understanding course material in assigned area(s).
  • Assist in promoting the center.
  • Complete related record-keeping in Navigate.
Other Functions
  • Recognize when referral is appropriate and necessary.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Chemeketa Community College and its philosophy.
  • Communicate and work effectively with students, staff, and the general public from diverse cultural, social, economic, and educational backgrounds.
  • Attend required team or department meetings/trainings.
  • Use appropriate technology tools to accomplish job functions.
  • Provide high-quality, effective service to internal and external customers.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Be enrolled at Chemeketa Community College for at least 6 credits each term.
  • Possess and maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA (discuss eligibility with staff if GPA is below 3.0).
  • Earned an A or B in courses to be tutored and have instructor recommendation.

Terms of Employment
  • Current and ongoing enrollment at Chemeketa in at least 6 credits per term.
  • Position does not exceed 900 working hours per fiscal year.
  • Positions are on-site as requested by the college and may require flexible scheduling (evenings and/or weekends).
  • May require use of your personal vehicle for travel between campus locations.
  • Official transcripts may be requested within 30 days of hire.
  • Employees must maintain residency in Oregon, Washington, or Idaho as a condition of employment.
