Position Information
  • Department: Academic Programs / Student Affairs (LCB)
  • Position Title: Instructor – Biology (Fixed‑term, non‑tenure‑track, full/part‑time)
  • Appointment Type: Academic Faculty
  • Location: Bend, Oregon
  • Job Summary: Teach undergraduate biology courses term by term for the 2025‑2026 academic year, with potential for renewal.
Key Responsibilities
  • Teaching (95% of time): Administer and teach biology courses term by term. Complete course assessment processes, develop curriculum, maintain inclusive learning environment, provide office hours, and evaluate laboratory materials.
  • Student Advising & Mentoring (5%): Advise students, hold office hours, complete record‑keeping, and administer grades.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Master’s degree in Biology, Microbiology, Botany, Physiology, or Molecular Biology (required).
  • Demonstrated university‑level instructional experience and curriculum development in biology courses.
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety and facility use.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Must successfully complete a criminal history check.
Preferred Qualifications
  • PhD or terminal degree in a related field.
  • College or university‑level teaching experience.
  • Experience designing and assessing inclusive courses.
  • Minimum three years of independent university‑level instruction, including introductory lecture and laboratory courses.
