CDL A Test Driver

Overview

Roush is hiring a full‑time CDL A Test Driver in Madras, Oregon. The role involves driving prototype trucks on a durability test track, providing feedback to the development team, and ensuring safe, compliant operation of class A commercial vehicles. The position includes a 2:30 PM – 11 PM shift, no delivery duties, and an emphasis on on‑site testing and reporting.

• Safely operate Class A commercial vehicles, including electric and autonomous models, in compliance with all Department of Transportation rules.
• Drive vehicles on specified routes or test tracks.
• Document functional issues encountered while driving.
• Test vehicle features and systems and evaluate vehicle performance.
• Complete required paperwork to document issues.
• Hook and un‑hook trailers.
• Log all work, rest periods, and hours driven using an electronic logging device (ELD).
• Retain fuel, toll, and hotel receipts.
• Comply with all DOT rules and regulations, including hours of service (HOS) and pre‑ and post‑trip inspections.
• Report defects, accidents, or violations immediately.

• A high school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Class A commercial driver's license.
• Three or more years of recent, verifiable Class A driving experience.
• Ability to pass a DOT physical examination and DOT drug test.
• Ability to pass a background check.
• An excellent driving record.
• Availability to work the 2:30 PM – 11 PM shift.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for testing documentation.
• Knowledge of DOT rules and regulations, including HOS limitations.
• Ability to operate a manual transmission vehicle.
