Location: White City

The Town of White City Operations Technician reports to the Town Foreman and ensures efficient operation and maintenance of all Town assets, including, but not limited to streets and roads, utilities, park areas, equipment, sewer and water infrastructure, all Public Works programs.

Term and Compensation

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week with option for an Earned Day Off every three weeks.

Starting Salary Range:
Salary range for this position is $47,694.40 - $71,552.00 ($22.93 - $34.40 per hour) (2025 Rates) and is subject to negotiation based on experience.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Equipment operation and maintenance may include skid steer, trucks, tractors, snowplows, mowers, Zamboni, and small tools.
  • Road maintenance including snow clearing, sanding, street sweeping, pothole repairs, and crack sealing
  • Park maintenance including grass, flower beds, play structures, outdoor rink flooding and maintenance
  • Water and sewer system maintenance
  • Share 24-hour-standby duties with other employees
  • Update inventory records
  • Public Relations effectively handle resident concerns
  • Attend to spring and fall clean up bins
  • Assist with Parks and Recreation projects (benches, collect bins etc.)
  • Pathway maintenance, snow, ice, sand, crack seal
  • Maintain garbage and recycle bins throughout the community
  • Street sign replacements and maintenance
  • School zone, street and cross walk line painting
  • Minor carpentry, plumbing and electrical repairs
  • Culvert maintenance, unfreezing, remove silt and marking culvert ends for safety
  • Execute spring and fall leaf and branch and Christmas tree chipping programs
  • Outdoor ice making and surfacing equipment for creating ice surface (2 locations) rink board maintenance
  • Occasional janitorial duties, cleaning public areas, washrooms and change rooms
  • Load and unload trucks with supplies and equipment
  • Maintain town irrigation systems, including Bower West 2&3 detention pond pumps, fall blow outs, damage to residents’ systems along roadways
  • Deal with all rodent and pest controls.
  • Maintain all overland drainage throughout the community
  • Maintenance on irrigation pivot operation and compost area (leaf bags, branches)
  • Lift station confined space entry for cleaning and pump maintenance, including all training certification to perform the work to meet OHS requirements

Education and Experience
  • High school diploma, or equivalent.
  • Basic working knowledge of plumbing, carpentry and electrical.
  • 3-5 years of experience operating equipment including:
    • mid-size tractors
    • zero turn mowers
    • skid steer
    • front-end loaders
    • mini excavators
    • snowplows and/or trucks with snowplows
  • Valid Class 5 Saskatchewan Driver’s License with safe driving record.
    • Class 1 or G endorsement preferred.
  • Landscape Pesticide Spraying License or ability to obtain license.
  • Understanding of Work safe Saskatchewan regulations and related work practices.
  • Able to obtain all required safety training certificates.
Working Conditions
  • Overtime as required.
  • Regularly available for 24 hour on call shifts (7 days straight every 6 weeks).
