A day in the life…The Deli Clerk is responsible for completing deli prep work, serving customers, and accepting payment for ice cream. They uphold food safety, cleanliness, and quality for all deli offerings. They engage guests, foster positive relationships, and provide excellent service. The Deli Team member is a team player who cross‑trains as a clerk and steps in wherever needed.
Key Accountabilities:- Assist guests with everything behind the deli counter, including scooping and accepting payment for ice cream.
- Follow and complete the prep lists provided by the Deli Supervisor with the deli team.
- Communicate out‑of‑stocks and other important information to the manager on duty.
- Assist with the receiving process, ensuring the process, storage, and handling meet expectations.
- Follow process, storage, and handling instructions and communicate all food‑safety concerns.
- Be an expert on all products behind the deli counter and knowledgeable about all Market products.
- Anticipate guest needs and address issues, empowering yourself to resolve them and to pass situations upward when necessary.
- Engage guests in sampling products, set up and manage sampling stations for specials, and offer samples of items that guests are on the fence about purchasing.
- Previous grocery store and/or store clerk, stocker, or deli experience preferred.
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fun and fast‑paced environment.
- Focus on guest needs and customer service.
- State‑approved Food Handlers certification.
