• Position: Laborer
• Reports to: Production Superintendent
• Shift: Swing shift
• Pay: $24.10; this is a collective bargaining position.

• Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines
• Perform general clean‑up duties using a shovel, broom, chipping hammer, pavement breaker, concrete saw, Waldon front‑end loader, Bobcat loader, motorized sweepers, and hi‑vac vacuum truck
• Assist in removing and installing refractory lining in the kiln, preheat tower, coolers and other related plant equipment. Also assist with concrete pours, mixing and pouring special castibles, which may require lifting sacks weighing a minimum of 30 pounds
• Perform cleaning of plant equipment including unplugging chutes and silo feeders, cleaning inside of dust collectors and tower cyclones using water and air hoses, unplugging preheat tower vessels, feed pipes, conveyor drags, augers, belt conveyors and troughing rolls
• Perform emergency railroad track repairs, which occasionally require repetitive pounding of a sledgehammer weighing up to 16 pounds. Clean railroad hopper and box cars, which includes lifting top loading doors weighing up to 75 pounds
• Clean building roofs and remove snow when necessary. Occasionally clean drain ditches and catch basins. Use shovels and an air lance to perform these duties
• Assist in screening grinding balls and recharging mill grinding ball load
• Perform janitorial and ground‑keeping duties which include but are not limited to: changing air‑conditioner filters, mowing, weeding, fertilizing, watering and trimming
• Perform vacation relief, fill other positions as needed and perform other duties as assigned by the Shift Supervisor or Production Manager
• Observe all safety rules and keep work areas clean
• Additional duties as assigned by supervisor

• High school graduation or equivalent
• Ability to read, write and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc. Willingness to learn
• Ability to safely and effectively use and operate a shovel, broom, chipping hammer, pavement breaker, concrete saw, Waldon front‑end loader, Bobcat loader, motorized sweeper, brick saw, water hose, air hose, sledgehammer and air lance in performing job duties

Work environment

Work to be performed in a shop environment as well as outdoor exposure throughout the plant. Mild exposure to cement dust, heat, cold, and noise requires compliance with specified safety guidelines and procedures. Exposure to high elevations of up to 250 feet in height. Exposure to all weather conditions. Normal operation of mobile equipment may result in jarring and vibratory exposure.
