Global Product Manager

Actalent is supporting the recruitment of a talented Global Product Manager to support a niche manufacturing client of ours in the material handling, lift truck and/or attachments space. Talent is ideally in Portland, but could come from other locations as long as they can relocate soon. Relocation support can be provided for the right talent. Applicants must meet specific requirements for consideration.

Job Description

The Global Product Manager is responsible for the commercial success of regional and global products. This role involves coordinating efforts across various departments such as sales, after-market support, engineering, production, purchasing, and marketing to deliver value-added products and services that satisfy customers, boost revenues, and increase market share.

Responsibilities
  • Support regional sales efforts with technical product knowledge to satisfy and acquire new customers.
  • Ensure the overall success of product performance on a global scale.
  • Translate product requirements into clear and comprehensive documentation.
  • Serve as a customer advocate for company products.
  • Ensure timely product development, incorporating customer‑desired attributes that generate strong revenue streams.
  • Maintain market leadership for products and services.
  • Conduct market analysis to identify global needs for current and future products.
  • Ensure customer‑centric and value‑added technical and sales literature.
  • Collaborate with global sales, production, and engineering teams.
  • Participate in global product corrective action programs to minimize warranty costs.
  • Assess customer and product situations from multiple perspectives during decision‑making processes.
  • Understand the interaction between various parts of the organization globally and regionally.
  • Develop a strong understanding of customer needs to serve as a valuable resource and partner.
  • Monitor customer and market dynamics to stay updated on trends and competitive pressures.
Essential Skills
  • Product management, sales, and project management experience.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Technical background and experience in the material handling industry, with forklifts highly preferred.
  • Experience working with product engineering, sales, and marketing teams.
  • Market analysis expertise.
Additional

Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or marketing (MBA is a plus).
  • Direct experience in the forklift attachment industry.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, ideally from a mechanical engineering degree.
  • 10+ years of experience in product management, with a preference for the material handling industry.
  • Ability to understand, apply, and communicate mechanical concepts.
  • Project management skills.
  • Knowledge of intellectual property, commercial contracts, and product liability.
  • Strong time management, presentation, and public speaking skills.
  • Ability to influence outcomes through consensus building.
  • Demonstrated teamwork and leadership qualities.
Work Environment

This role is based onsite in the Portland, OR area, with extensive domestic and international travel required. Travel can include weekdays, evenings, and weekends, ranging from 20% to 30% per year. International travel varies between 50% to 70% of the total travel. The position reports to the Director of Global Product Management and is highly visible within the company, involving collaboration with the CEO.

The product management team consists of three members, including the Director and another Global Product Manager based in Italy.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $ - $ per year.
