Support our mission and community with secure technology systems.

At Guide Dogs for the Blind (GDB), we train guide dogs to create partnerships with individuals who are blind or visually impaired. We are seeking an experienced IT Infrastructure Specialist to provide senior‑level technical support across GDB’s technology environment. Reporting to the IT Infrastructure Manager, this role supports computer systems, networks, telephony, security, audiovisual systems, and enterprise applications while collaborating with IT colleagues, end users, and vendors to deliver dependable, accessible, and secure technology solutions.

This is a campus‑based position with a hybrid work schedule available after an initial onboarding period.

What you’ll do:
  • Deliver advanced technical support and project execution, managing complex infrastructure projects, developing timelines with IT leadership, meeting deadlines, and providing high‑quality support for on‑campus, remote, and field users through Help Desk and escalated requests.
  • Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise infrastructure, including network, server and storage systems, audiovisual and videoconferencing tools, access control and surveillance systems, telephony/VoIP platforms, and desktop and mobile devices, with occasional after‑hours maintenance.
  • Serve as primary administrator for Verkada systems, overseeing access control, video surveillance, and panic alarms, while supporting application upgrades, integrations, and major system deployments with limited direction.
  • Support security, continuity, and infrastructure resilience, performing network administration, enforcing security policies, restoring data, resolving complex issues, escalating to vendors as needed, and serving as backup for the IT Infrastructure Manager.
  • Research, evaluate, and implement new technologies, supporting IT Steering Committee‑approved initiatives, maintaining expertise in supported and emerging systems, and assisting with procurement and lifecycle management including upgrades, imaging, and secure hardware disposal.
  • Create documentation and support inclusive technology use, producing accessible technical and end‑user documentation, supporting assistive technologies, audiovisual systems, and specialized software, and maintaining strong communication with users and stakeholders while upholding organizational values and safety practices.
What you’ll love:
  • Supporting technology that directly enables a life‑changing mission
  • Working across a wide range of systems with meaningful variety
  • Collaborating with a skilled, supportive IT team
  • Helping ensure accessible, secure technology for all users
  • Hybrid work flexibility after onboarding
The qualifications you’ll need:
  • 5+ years of experience in computer hardware/software support and network administration (training may substitute for up to one year); progress toward or completion of technical certifications and project management experience preferred
  • Experience with Windows environments, Active Directory, VMware, Box, Zoom, Verkada, Arctic Wolf, Ruckus, VoIP, and remote access/patch management tools
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking, WAN environments, Wi‑Fi systems, and cybersecurity best practices and experience with system upgrades, device imaging, change management, and secure disposal of obsolete hardware
  • Ability to quickly learn and support new technologies, including assistive tools for individuals with visual impairments
  • Strong communication skills with both technical and non‑technical users
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 20 pounds and extensive keyboard use
