Job Summary: We are looking for a detail-oriented and dedicated Medical Laboratory Assistant to join our healthcare team. The successful candidate will support laboratory operations by preparing samples, assist with maintaining equipment, and assisting with diagnostic tests. This role is essential for ensuring accurate and timely results for patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist medical technicians and laboratory scientists in conducting diagnostic tests.
- Prepare and process specimens, including blood, urine, and tissue samples.
- Assist with operating and maintaining laboratory equipment and instruments.
- Perform routine laboratory procedures, such as preparing send outs and centrifuging samples.
- Maintain accurate records of test results and patient information.
- Ensure compliance with laboratory safety protocols and standards, including proper disposal of hazardous materials.
- Keep up inventory of laboratory supplies and request new supplies as needed.
- Assist in the preparation of laboratory reports and documentation.
- Communicate effectively with healthcare professionals and patients.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; an Associate's degree or certification as a technical laboratory assistant is preferred.
- Proven experience as a Technical Laboratory Assistant or similar role.
- Knowledge of laboratory safety protocols and procedures.
- Proficiency in operating laboratory equipment and handling biological samples.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to follow complex instructions and protocols.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS) and electronic health records (EHR).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in a clinical or hospital laboratory setting.
- Phlebotomy.
