Technical Sales Engineer
An industrial gas owner/operator is seeking a Technical Sales Engineer to create, grow, and maintain sales of industrial gas products and provide technical solutions to new and existing customers within the metals, heat treatment and combustion industry.
Base pay range$/yr - $/yr
Responsibilities- Differentiate clients equipment and solution offerings from competitors by understanding prospect/customer needs and objectives and applying creativity, innovation, and a value‑added sales approach which will improve the customer’s manufacturing processes.
- Support the sales and market segment personnel (e.g., opportunity qualification, design of technical solution and determination of value creation, understanding of customer/prospect feedback regarding solution, support in development of solution cost, proposal development for technical solutions) in winning business in a team effort. Gain understanding of competitive gas supply contract terms.
- Maintain the existing customer base through customer process knowledge and technical expertise and assist in relationship selling.
- Act as the technical expert that differentiates clients’ competition and drives profitable sales using the clients Pro sales process for both the acquisition of new customers and the growth and retention of existing customers.
- Obtain insight regarding industry trends and opportunities for development of new application technologies or improvement of existing equipment.
- Build relationships with multiple functions (e.g., operations, maintenance, engineering) in prospect/customer organizations.
- Develop and employ an industry network (e.g., industry players, complementary equipment/service providers, academics) to enhance clients’ prioritization and performance.
- Design applications equipment/technical solutions for the target industry working closely with the Applications Equipment Engineering team, Industry Manager, and Clients Global technical team.
- Perform actions that are precursors to successful value creation through application of technical solutions such as customer process audits, safety training, and awareness activities.
- Maintain technical knowledge and competence in the company’s application technologies and services as well as alternative and competitive technical solutions.
We are seeking a degree‑qualified individual from an engineering discipline preferably Chemical, Metallurgy, Mechanical or Material Science.
We are especially interested in candidates with five years of related experience, including applying or selling technical solutions in a metals processing, metals technology selling or metals technology commercialization or manufacturing environment.
