Job Summary

This position carries with it the obligation to uphold the Mission of North Central Texas College in carrying out the duties of the position. It is the responsibility of the teaching faculty to provide learning activities and support that will lead to the achievement of course and program objectives and to contribute to the overall educational environment of the college and community and to provide related services such as academic advising, committee participation, professional development, community development as well as other service support that is needed in the fulfillment of the North Central Texas College’s Mission.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Hold class sessions as scheduled.
  • Follow division responsibility for class attendance.
  • Maintains appropriate records of grades/attendance and submits required reports to the Division Chair and Registrar on time.
  • Posts office hours and be available to students during that time.
  • Makes an appropriate syllabus available to students and Division Chair in a timely manner.
  • Be well organized and prepared for each class.
  • Maintain college level rigor and require a high level of academic excellence from students.
  • Use an appropriate variety of instructional methods to enhance learning.
  • Develop appropriate tests, projects and/or other evaluation activities for courses taught.
  • Considers Student Course Evaluations in the improvement of instruction.
  • Communicates effectively and in a timely manner with students.
  • Provides appropriate feedback on student assignments.
  • Encourages an atmosphere in which students may ask questions, offer opinions, and express ideas.
  • Keep abreast of developments in the subject area and in instructional techniques.
  • Share ideas and materials related to the teaching field and/or pedagogy with colleagues.
  • Participate in Peer Classroom Observation Program.
Required Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Mechatronics or related discipline
OR
Associate Degree in Industrial Mechatronics, or related discipline and three years’ work experience in the area of assigned instruction

Required Skills & Abilities

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Exhibition of respect and professionalism in a spirit of collegiality
  • Ability to promote an effective environment for learning in lecture and lab experiences
Preferred Skills & Abilities
  • FANUC , and/or NC3 certified
  • Knowledge of online delivery methods, principles and techniques.
Required Experience

Three years’ experience in the industrial mechatronics field, including a background in robotics, electrical installations, programmable logic controllers, sensors, CAD / CAM process, automated systems, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair; installation and setup of new automated systems including programming a plus.

Preferred Experience

4+ years’ related work experience
Community College and or Public School teaching experience.
Online curriculum development and teaching experience.
