Physics/Astronomy Instructor Pool-Part-Time
This is a continuous recruitment to fill part-time, and temporary faculty assignments on an as-needed basis. When the need to fill arises, the department will refer to this pool of part-time faculty. The recruitment will remain active for a period of one year from the position opening date. If there is no longer a need to fill, the position may be closed sooner, and applicants will be notified.

Possession of the minimum qualifications does not guarantee an interview. You must upload your resume and transcripts; applications submitted without all required documents will not be considered. Evidence of degree conferred/awarded must be printed on a legible transcript.
The minimum number of references is one (1). The candidate will be required to provide official transcripts and verification of experience prior to the first duty day, identification and employment eligibility as outlined in the Immigration Reform and Control Act, fingerprints, and required medical certification pursuant to statute. NOCCCD will not sponsor any visa applications. Job duties are representative and not restrictive. Duties and responsibilities may be modified by the District as needed.
Course assignments may include:
- Physics courses to teach:
Physics 130, 201, 202, 210, 211, 221, 222, 223 - Astronomy courses to teach:
Astronomy 116 (lecture) and 117 (laboratory)
MASTER’S in physics, astronomy or astrophysics; OR BACHELOR’S in physics or astronomy and MASTER’S in engineering, mathematics, meteorology or geophysics; OR CALIFORNIA TEACHING CREDENTIAL authorizing service in a community college in the appropriate subject matter area; OR THE EQUIVALENT as determined by the District Equivalency Committee. All degrees and coursework used to satisfy minimum qualifications must be submitted and from accredited postsecondary institutions.

Recent experience teaching lab-based physics courses within the last 5 years (college, TA, or high school). Demonstrated ability to teach physics courses, especially introductory classes, with practices supporting success and retention of women, students of color, and students with disabilities.
Special RequirementsThe award of all degrees must be verifiable on a legible transcript. If the degree award date is not posted on the transcript, the application will be deemed incomplete. Grade cards will not be accepted in lieu of transcripts. All degrees and coursework used to satisfy minimum qualifications must be submitted and from accredited postsecondary institutions.
