Position: TASTING ROOM ASSISTANT MANAGER
Location: Sherwood

Hawks View Winery is located in Sherwood, Oregon, about 20 miles from downtown Portland, at the entrance to Willamette Valley Wine Country. We produce estate-grown wines from our 45-acre vineyard and welcome guests into a setting known for beautiful views, calm energy, and genuine hospitality.

We believe great wine deserves great hospitality. Our tasting room is meant to feel welcoming, relaxed, and personal—not rushed or transactional.

Position Summary

The Assistant Tasting Room Manager supports daily tasting room operations while helping lead the guest experience and the tasting room team.

This role works closely with the Winery General Manager and Wine Club leadership to ensure guests feel well cared for, associates are supported, and the tasting room operates smoothly. This is a hands‑on leadership role with regular floor presence.

We are looking for a mature hospitality professional—someone comfortable leading people, reading guests, and setting a calm, confident tone.

Schedule

Must be available to work weekends, holidays, and peak seasons.

Compensation

$52,000–$55,000 annually, depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

Guest Experience & Floor Leadership

Lead by example on the tasting room floor.

Ensure guests feel welcomed, comfortable, and well cared for.

Support service recovery by addressing guest concerns calmly and professionally.

Coach associates in real time to maintain service standards.

Support tasting room sales goals alongside the Winery General Manager.

Work with Wine Club leadership to support sign-ups and member engagement.

Ensure associates understand wine offerings and can speak comfortably with guests.

Assist with sales tracking and basic reporting.

Assist with hiring, onboarding, and training tasting room associates.

Help manage schedules, daily staffing needs, and task assignments.

Provide coaching and feedback; elevate issues to management or HR when needed.

Act as manager on duty when the Winery General Manager is not on‑site.

Operations & Compliance

Ensure opening and closing procedures are followed.

Maintain POS accuracy, cash handling standards, and timecard approvals.

Support payroll reporting, including commissions.

Ensure compliance with alcohol service laws and labor requirements.

Maintain a clean, organized, and brand‑appropriate tasting room environment.

Assist with wine and supply inventory oversight.

Qualifications

Must be 21 years of age or older.

Minimum 7 years of experience in hospitality leadership (tasting room, restaurant, hotel, or similar environment).

Comfortable leading teams and interacting with guests of all backgrounds.

Strong service instincts and sound judgment.

Calm, steady presence—especially during busy periods.

Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, POS systems).

Solid wine knowledge or strong willingness to learn.

Willing to obtain and maintain required certifications (OLCC Permit, Food Handler).
