A specialized manufacturing organization is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to lead product development efforts from initial concept through engineering release. This role is responsible for designing, analyzing, and validating mechanical products intended for highly specific applications. The Mechanical Engineer will generate detailed technical documentation, support manufacturing, and oversee testing activities. This position also serves as the key technical point of contact between internal project leadership and external partners to ensure successful program execution and strong working relationships.

Job Details

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop complete technical design packages, including component and assembly drawings, installation documentation, service communications, and engineering test plans and reports.
  • Perform classical engineering analysis and simulations to validate component and system-level designs.
  • Create, maintain, and control detailed product definition documentation, including drawings and bills of materials.
  • Conduct tolerance analyses and geometric dimensioning studies on parts and assemblies.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and other internal teams to ensure product quality and continuous improvement.
  • Utilize build manuals, parts documentation, drawings, and other technical resources to resolve design and production issues.
  • Execute all work in compliance with established procedures, quality standards, and safety requirements.
  • Communicate regularly and clearly with management and cross‑functional teams regarding project status, risks, and milestones.
  • Comply with applicable aerospace/industrial quality management standards as administered by Quality Assurance and Quality Control.
  • Research and evaluate new or existing technologies for potential application in current or future product designs.
  • Define problems, gather data, perform analysis, and recommend effective technical solutions.
  • Interface with customers, suppliers, and vendors on active programs and future opportunities.
  • Investigate field issues and failures and implement corrective design actions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Skills, Experience, and Aptitude
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, with a minimum of four years of relevant professional experience.
  • Experience creating and working with engineering drawings, work instructions, and mechanical documentation.
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD software (Solid Works or similar preferred).
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply written technical materials related to assigned projects.
  • Proficiency with standard computer applications, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and related tools.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively at all organizational levels, including external partners.
Essential Job Functions
  • Safely lift and carry equipment or materials, with assistance when required.
  • Work independently while meeting strict deadlines and project requirements.
  • Remain in a stationary position for extended periods, alternating between sitting and standing as needed.
  • Perform repetitive physical movements such as pushing, pulling, bending, twisting, and stooping.
  • Execute fine motor tasks, including handling both small and large components.
  • Communicate clearly and maintain a professional, positive, and cooperative demeanor with colleagues, managers, customers, and vendors.
