Software Quality Assurance Engineer

This role involves verification of complex hardware/software systems, including workstations, display controllers, drivers, displays, and peripherals in a Windows environment. The position requires conducting system-level troubleshooting, performing preliminary root cause analysis, and participating in the Agile development process as a QA engineer. The engineer will derive test cases from requirement specifications, user stories, and defect history, and define end-to-end test plans for display systems and components.

Additionally, the role involves participating in the design, development, and integration of automated test tools for regression testing.

Responsibilities
  • Verify complex hardware/software systems including workstations, display controllers, drivers, and peripherals.
  • Conduct system-level troubleshooting and perform preliminary root cause analysis.
  • Participate in the Agile development process as a QA engineer.
  • Derive test cases from requirement specifications, user stories, and defect history.
  • Define end-to-end test plans for display systems and components.
  • Participate in the design, development, and integration of automated test tools for regression testing.
Essential Skills
  • Familiarity with computer systems, both hardware and software, including system configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
  • Basic understanding of graphics hardware and video interfaces, such as EDID/Display

    ID, DP, and graphics drivers.
  • Experience with virtualization, networking, and GPOs.
  • Bachelor's degree or more than 3 years of industry experience in engineering.
  • 2–3 years of recent Software Quality Assurance experience.
  • Experience working in a Windows 10/11 environment.
Additional

Skills & Qualifications
  • Knowledge of software scripting languages such as batch scripts, Python, and Power Shell.
  • Experience with testing software for display technologies, including monitors and display controllers.
  • Ability to develop test cases and test plans from product requirements and Agile user stories.
  • Experience with manual testing and creating custom automated testing (Python, Power Shell, batch scripts).
  • Proficiency with Windows system setup and configuration, including OS installation, driver installation, registry basics, and network configuration (Ethernet & Wi-Fi).
  • Knowledge of display technologies like Intel, Display Port, Direct

    X, Vulkan, OpenGL, WDDM, USB, HDMI, MIPI, driver, device, peripheral, monitor, EDID, Display

    ID, MDP, DVI, VGA.
Work Environment

The work environment is hybrid, offering a mix of remote and on-site work. Ideal for individuals who enjoy solving complex engineering challenges and prefer working in a smaller team setting.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Portland, OR.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $43.27 - $50.48/hr.
