This position oversees the technological aspects of a library, focusing on digital resource management and technical infrastructure. The position reports to the Library Director. Responsibilities include maintaining digital collections, managing library management systems, providing technical support, ensuring database accuracy, and managing user authentication. This role involves staying updated on emerging technologies, collaborating with library staff, analyzing data for decision‑making, and training others on library systems.
Experience in troubleshooting technical issues, implementing data backup and recovery strategies, and contributing to the overall efficiency and accessibility of the library's digital resources and services.

- Minimum of one (1) year of professional library experience.
- The experience must have provided a knowledge and understanding of the theories, principles, and techniques of professional librarianship; a knowledge of literature resources; and the knowledge and abilities which are essential for providing effective library and information services.
Certifications or Licenses
- At the time of appointment, must possess a valid Oregon driver's license and maintain an acceptable driving record.
- Experience working with integrated library system software, especially Koha, preferred.
- Experience working with a web content management system is preferred.
- Must pass a pre‑employment criminal history background investigation.
Duties assigned to this classification include, but are not limited to, the following examples.
The Systems Librarian performs work that regularly requires an in‑depth, practical understanding of library activities and procedures.
Daily serves as lead worker. This includes:
- Assigning immediate tasks to group members and planning the day’s work
- Obtaining and passing on instructions from the supervisors
- Answering questions on procedures and instructions
- Setting the pace of work
- Checking work in progress
- Accepting or rejecting completed work
- Assuring good safety practices are followed
- Part of the reference team that is responsible for providing reference services to the public.
- Provides reference services for patrons including finding library materials based on patron requests, looking up basic information such as location directions, government and non‑profit information and services, and any other search requested by a patron.
- Helps patrons use computers, printers, machines, and other library equipment.
- Reserves study rooms and other library spaces for library patrons.
- May provide in‑depth reference services that require in‑depth research or follow‑up.
- Provides readers advisory services.
- Provides guidance and assistance to Library Assistants and volunteers.
- May provide circulation and account services including checking materials in and out, creating library accounts and issuing library cards, updating patron account information, placing and distributing library materials held for patrons.
- Run regular maintenance reports related to patron accounts to ensure accuracy.
- Resolves patron problems by researching disputed late fees, charges for lost or damaged materials, or errors in registration.
- Prepares paper and virtual brochures, flyers, bookmarks, handouts, posters for distribution to patrons.
- Provides customer service at outreach destinations and cover shifts at other library locations.
- Supports the management and maintenance of the library’s website using a Content Management System.
- Monitors and updates the webpage to ensure accuracy, accessibility, and user‑friendliness.
- Supports work around digital literacy and is engaged in supporting access to digital materials in collaboration with County Information Systems.
- Develops and maintains positive relationships and open communications with the community to further the library’s strategic directions and goals in conjunction with the Library Director and other library staff.
