Position Name: Special Education Assistant (General Education) (TEMPORARY position will end June 2026)
Classification: Classified
Salary Level: $17.61 - $21.69
Location: Tangent Elementary
Reports to: Building Principal
Shift: 6.75 hours per day
Work Calendar: 179 days, 9 month elementary
Position Overview: Under direct teacher supervision, performs a variety of tasks assisting a teacher in the development of an instructional program by working with students individually or in small groups. Prepares instructional materials, maintains classroom discipline, and conducts planned activities using teacher designated methods and materials. In addition, provides assistance for the physically and intellectually disabled, learning disabled, emotionally disturbed, etc.

Responsibilities- Assist a teacher in developing instructional activities and implementing lesson plans.
- Work with students individually or in small groups as directed by the teacher.
- Prepare instructional materials and support classroom management and orderly conduct of activities.
- Provide assistance for students with disabilities, learning challenges, or emotional needs as assigned.
- Required:
two years of college (minimum 72 credits in academic coursework), Associates Degree or higher, or pass the Highly Qualified exam.
